Doors: 7.30pm
Performance from 8.30pm

The Pete Roth Quartet features leader Pete on guitar, Mike Pratt on bass, Simon Bates on saxophone and the incomparable Bill Bruford as a special guest on drums.

The band creates jazz for a new generation of music enthusiasts, exploring beyond traditional jazz conventions. A jazz standard might reveal its essence only in the final moments of performance. Roth’s original compositions, such as “Dancing with Grace,” the Trio’s collaborative works like “Trio in Five” and “Looking Forward to Looking Back,” or their reinterpretation of masterworks like Anton Dvorak’s “Largo from Symphony #9,” offer just a few gateways into the creative world of the Pete Roth Quartet —a world that will likely reshape your perspective on what this format can achieve.

A special mention has to be made for the legendary drummer, Bill Bruford, as (along with other international guests that The Spin has presented, such as Randy Brecker, Gwilym Simcock and Jeff Ballard), Bill has had an astonishing career at the very top of his genres. Projects across the decades include world tours (and 5 albums) with the supergroup Yes, tours and albums with mega-bands Genesis and King Crimson…before going on to create his own outstanding original jazz outfit, Earthworks (featuring Django Bates and Iain Ballamy).

This promises to be an incendiary night: don’t delay, folks….book NOW!!!

Over the last 20+ years, The Spin has presented live music of the highest calibre within the broad 'contemporary jazz' genre, creating scintillating nights out for anybody with a taste for interesting, exciting, alluring and luscious music.

At The Spin, we believe that our events should be accessible to all, as well as affordable. This, in part, is only made possible with the help of our team of generous volunteers, who volunteer not only their time but also their expertise towards making our gigs the success that they are.

Every musician who plays at The Spin gets properly paid - and it is through your ticket purchases alone that we can do that. Our events are run on a tight budget to keep ticket prices down; we realise that not everyone can afford or may be willing to pay for higher ticket prices. However, for those of you who are happy to pay a little more and contribute further to the efforts of The Spin, we are giving you the opportunity to ’support the club' by making a voluntary contribution on top of your ticket price. These donations will be greatly appreciated and will help us to continue putting on our fantastic live jazz events.
