‘Flight of Hand’ Featuring David Gordon

We are really delighted to be bringing Flight Of Hand to The Spin for the first time. This group specialises in South American music, so expect a night of tasty, hot and sultry, languid and luscious Latin vibes!

The group features one of the most brilliant pianists in the world, David Gordon - as much at home playing harpsichord with leading baroque orchestras (such as the English Concert) as he is tearing up on a Chick Corea classic! Amongst other projects, David has toured the world with the gypsy-tango band ‘Zum’ and has worked in the jazz scene with such luminaries as Andy Sheppard, Jacqui Dankworth, Chris Garrick and Keith Tippett.

The band also features the ace rhythm section of Oli Hayhurst and Tom Hooper (who are also the integral backing of the David Gordon Trio….so the chemistry and interplay is already assured!). Between them they have worked extensively with a massive roster of top artists, including: Kurt Rosenwinkel, Pharoah Sanders, Gilad Atzmon, Tim Whitehead, Kit Downes, Cara Dillon, Zoe Rahman, John Law etc. etc..

The band is completed with The Spin’s own Pete Oxley on guitar. Pete and David’s association goes back many years, encompassing tours and recordings together. They both are award-winning composers and both will be contributing their works, alongside the pick of pieces by the likes of Egberto Gismonti, Lyle Mays, Milton Nascimento and Mané Silveira…
