Jonathan Gee w/ The Spin Band

It’s a great pleasure to be able to welcome back to The Spin one of the club’s favourite pianists: Jonathan Gee!

Jonathan has been at the forefront of the contemporary jazz scene ever since the ‘Most Promising Newcomer’ was awarded to him by The Guardian/Wire British Jazz Awards in 1991. He rapidly got to be the go-to pianist, working regularly in the UK and abroad with such leading lights as Bobby Wellins, Steve Williamson, Orphy Robinson, Claire Martin, Iain Ballamy and Tim Whitehead.

Jonathan’s fiery and inspired playing soon found him being hired by major international A-listers such as Art Farmer, Mark Murphy and Pharoah Sanders. His gig at Ronnie Scott’s (with his trio) backing sax-super-hero Joe Lovano was hailed by Time Out as the ‘Jazz Gig of The year’. This trio went on to back many of the great luminaries that came to Ronnie’s, including Benny Golson.
