Paul Booth & Ross Stanley w/ The Killer Quartet

Thursday 10th March 2022

The Spin is truly delighted to have been able to book, for the same gig, two of the UK’s busiest and most exciting players: Paul Booth and Ross Stanley. These two have a great working relationship going back some years, and we are further delighted to have for the first time at the club another collaborator of this pair, the incredible drummer, Andrew Bain!

All three were part of a band that was, for Team Spin, an undisputed highlight of the lock-down concerts put out, live from Ronnie Scott’s, in 2020.

Saxophonist Paul Booth has had (and continues to have) an international career which has seen him performing, touring and recording with, amongst others, Eric Clapton, Steely Dan, Carlos Santana, Steve Winwood, Chaka Khan, Eddie Henderson, The BBC Big Band…

Hammond organ player Ross Stanley is…. Wait, firstly, we should just highlight that Ross is one of the only guys anywhere that tours with the genuine thing: the Hammond B3 - and Lesley cabinet! This is quite a feat in itself (almost everybody in this genre uses the way-more-lightweight [but excellent] Nord keyboard) - but the sound of the real thing justifies the efforts of the authentic instrument, when in the hands of a master such as Ross! And without any doubt, Ross is absolutely world-class, and it’s a real pleasure to have him on this date.

It’s quite possible that Ross genuinely IS the UK’s hardest working musician, touring regularly with, for example, Jim Mullen, Nigel Price, Jacqui Dankworth, Steve Howe (Yes), Liane Carroll, Stan Sultzman, Dennis Rollins...
