'Spellbound': a supergroup featuring Iain Ballamy, Huw Warren & Rob Luft

Renowned saxophonist and composer Iain Ballamy leads this supergroup all of whom share a lifelong fascination with the vibrant music of Brazil.

Performing covers from the greats and original compositions created in the spirit of Milton Nascimento, Tom Jobim, Joao Bosco and Hermeto Pascoal, this unique band display a range of Brazilian musical styles with artful group jazz improvisation and mesmerising interplay between it’s band members. 

Iain Ballamy has spent over 3 decades transcending musical genres and stereotypes forming strong relationships with musicians around the globe. He's worked with many cutting-edge figures of today’s contemporary jazz scene. He has also played 2 tours with legendary Brazilian multi-instrumentalist and composer Hermeto Pascoal.

Co-leading this outfit is the brilliant pianist, Huw Warren. In just a snapshot of Huw’s career, his massively-varied CV includes work with June Tabor, Ralph Towner, Elvis Costello, Billy Bragg, Tim Garland and John Cage!

This extraordinary group also features BBC Young Generation Artist guitarist Rob Luft, - heard to spellbinding effect at The Spin a few weeks ago in the outstanding band that he led with Dave O'Higgins.

Completing the line-up are the top contemporary bassist Misha Mullov-Abbado and highly regarded, massively in-demand drummer, Corrie Dick.
