The Spin is delighted to be welcoming for the first time, this outstanding quartet, led by one of the most brilliant and creative saxophonists of his generation: Matt Anderson.

Such is the stature of Matt’s musicianship, he is a principal lecturer at Leeds Conservatoire and teaches at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Outside of his own band, he works regularly with many of the leading UK musicians, such as Ivo Neame, Gareth Lockrane and Greg Hutchinson. 

The drummer in this band - Jay Davis - has rapidly become a Spin favourite (from his appearances with Alex Hitchcock, Julian Nicholas and Chris Eldred - as anybody that attended these gigs will attest to!). On keys will be the outrageously talented Alberto Palau, now residing in the UK after making a name for himself in Boston and New York. Completing the quartet is the ever-in-demand bassist, John J Williamson.

Matt’s music is extremely broad in its stylistic content: it’s a fascinating fusion of world-jazz, juxtaposed with spacious, folk-influenced sounds. Check out this recent recording:
