John Law's Re-Creations
Re-Creations is led by one of the most brilliantly creative musicians on this (or any other) planet: John Law! As a pianist, he is a formidable exponent of pretty much any style you’d care to consider, having been a prize-winning classical pianist as a child, to being one of the leading exponents of contemporary jazz today.

The Sarah Gillespie Band
The Spin is thrilled to be able to present to you this exceptional artist with her band of KILLER musicians!
Anglo-American singer songwriter Sarah Gillespie is renowned for mixing elements of jazz, folk & blues with her streetwise poetic lyricism.

The Ben Crosland Quintet
It is becoming a bit of a habit to be describing our bands as ‘Supergroups’…and this is no exception! Led by bassist and composer, Ben Crosland, this band features a personnel of the finest players in the UK.

The Paul Jordanous All Stars
The Spin’s opening gig at its new ‘2nd venue’, featuring the wonderful Mark Lockheart, on the 2nd April was - by all accounts - a great success! As a result of this success, the club has booked a run of Tuesday night gigs at the Summertown Wine Bar to compliment their other nights at Tap Social.

'Spellbound': a supergroup featuring Iain Ballamy, Huw Warren & Rob Luft
Renowned saxophonist and composer Iain Ballamy leads this supergroup all of whom share a lifelong fascination with the vibrant music of Brazil.

The Emma Rawicz Quintet
The Spin is truly delighted to welcome to the club for the first time the most rapidly ascending star on the UK jazz scene for many a decade!
Saxophonist Emma Rawicz, at the age of 21, has already released two critically-acclaimed albums of original compositions, has toured all over Europe and has rightly garnered glowing press from respected national publications and broadcasters.

Martin Shaw with the David Gordon Special
Martin Shaw has wooed and wowed Spin audiences in past years and we expect no less of a response at this gig!

The Dave O’Higgins & Rob Luft Quartet
OK, let’s start with this, from a 5-star BBC Music Magazine review:
"Some of the warmest, most heartfelt more-or-less-straight-ahead jazz you’ll hear anywhere”
Yes - in a line, that sums it up! The Spin has been after booking this incredible band ever since hearing their roaring performance at a jazz festival a few years ago.

Time Is Of The Essence
The Spin welcomes back one of its most popular bands, Time Is Of The Essence, featuring the brilliant saxophonist, Ollie Weston and the outstanding drummer, Rick Finlay.

‘Hoop’ An all-star 7-piece band led by Paul Booth
The Spin presents 7 truly great musicians – all of whom could be star attractions in their own rights. This band features Paul’s original writing – and you won’t hear sharper horn arranging than that which Hoop will be offering!

Luca Caruso & Will Cleasby’s ‘Double Drums’
Ladies and gentlemen, a first for The Spin: we present a band, led not just by one drum maestro - but by two! This band was recently seen by Team Spin in London and was immediately booked for this date, given the quality, vigour - and incredible dynamic range - of the playing.

The BruMing Band - Celebrating the music of Brubeck & Mingus
We kick off the year with a brand new band, set up to celebrate the music of two celebrated jazz pioneers, Dave Brubeck and Charles Mingus. Both of these bandleaders put out ground-breaking albums in 1959: 'Time Out' and 'Ah Um', respectively; it is from these recordings that The BruMing Band are drawing their material.

Spin Spectacular Super-Group, featuring Paul Booth
From the age of 16, Paul Booth has been winning prestigious awards for his exceptional saxophone playing (this first award was for ‘Best Modern Jazz Player’ category on the televised BBC ‘Young Player of the Year’) and has ever since led a flourishing career at the top of all sorts of musical genres.

The Brandon Allen Groove Band
This is going to be a very special gig for The Spin, led by the ferociously brilliant tenor saxophonist, Brandon Allen!

Joni Mitchell's 80th Birthday Celebration ~ performance by Hejira
Hejira is a 7-piece band that was initially set up for a one-off performance as a ‘Christmas Special’ at The Spin, 9 months ago. That gig had such a response that this thrown-together line up quickly became a ‘project' and is about to embark on an extensive UK tour this autumn. So far, all of their gigs have been sell-outs, so it is a coup to have booked the band to perform a special concert on Joni Mitchell’s 80th birthday!

Emily Saunders Band (featuring Snowboy)
Critically acclaimed vocalist, songwriter, producer Emily Saunders, dubbed UK’s ‘queen of jazz fusion’ takes the stage by storm, leading an exceptional band through her spellbinding set of original songs with ambient animated visuals. What sets Saunders apart is that her musical skill in front of the mic is matched equally with her talent behind it as composer, producer and MD.

Henry Spencer Band
For this special one-off performance, multi-award winning trumpeter, composer and bandleader Henry Spencer performs music from his brilliant new album, The Defector.

Charged Particles featuring Randy Brecker
The Californian band Charged Particles with Tod Dickow is a formidable outfit in its own right. They have now visited The Spin twice, performing the music of Michael Brecker and have blown away the audiences with the power, virtuosity and sheer magnificence of their performances. What better testimony could be possible than having Michael's brother, 7-times GRAMMY winner, Randy Brecker, now touring with the band?

Julian Costello & The Spin Band
We kick off the autumn season with the fabulous saxophonist and composer, Julian Costello. Julian has performed several times at The Spin over the years and has always wooed and wowed the audiences with his charming, lyrical, bamboozling saxophonic flights of fancy!
